Who is Jesus?

Yesterday we began looking at the Gospel of John and we’ll be making our way through its pages over the next four months until Easter. I’m calling this series through the Gospel of John, “Who is Jesus?” This seems to be the question on everyone’s mind as we look at the stories in John’s Gospel. It’s an important question for us to ask as well. Perhaps the most important question we will ever answer—who do we believe Jesus to be? Because if Jesus is who the Gospel of John presents him to be—God become flesh and living among us—then he is also our ultimate authority. I hope this journey through the Gospel of John will help each of us answer that question.

Next week we’ll look at John 2 and see the way that Jesus responded to those who were misusing the Temple. The title of that sermon is “He is Zealous.” Jesus was certainly zealous for the truth and for righteousness. He calls us to be zealous as well, but we need to make sure we are zealous about the things of God.

While we didn’t get the snow that was originally projected, it is blowing out there quite a bit so be careful of the drifts and slick spots. Thanks again to our intrepid snow removal unit who had the sidewalk and parking lot ready for GLAPS preschool to resume today.

Hope you’ve had a great Christmas and New Year season. Now let’s brace for the cold!

God bless, Brian
