Relief Sale 2025

A big thank you to all who volunteered their time for the 2025 Illinois Mennonite Relief Sale. Thanks to those involved in pie day. Thanks for those who spent their time at the sale in the Dutch Market or flipping pancakes or working with the auction. Reports are that the Trivia Night was a great success. Initial reports are that more money was raised this year than last and more donations were still coming in.

The sermon yesterday was about how we are called to follow Jesus’ example in serving one another. The relief sale is a great example of people using their diverse gifts in order to work for those who are in need. Our prayer is that these efforts will make a difference in the lives of people around the globe.

Next week we’ll be look at Jesus’ statement in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me,” (NIV). These are important words for our life. The way we respond to them makes all the difference. We are often pulled in many directions, but if our goal is to draw near to God, then a relationship with Jesus is necessary.

Since today is St. Patrick’s Day, let me share just a bit of the prayer that’s attributed to him that we call the Breastplate of St. Patrick.

Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down, Christ when I arise, Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me, Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me, Christ in every eye that sees me, Christ in every ear that hears me.
